Congratulations Class of 2020!!
In so many ways I want to express my gratitude and congratulations to you at this graduation time. Who would have thought at the beginning of 2020 that everything we knew and were familiar with would change so rapidly? The plans and dreams of a sunny, May graduation day in PLNU’s Greek Amphitheater with classmates, family, and friends too quickly gave way to a pandemic which physically distanced us and resulted in new plans, especially for the 2020 graduation.
I am grateful to you for how resilient you are, how you’ve understood the challenges of this moment, how you’ve adapted to a new kind of graduation celebration, and how you will make this time in the Greek meaningful as we recognize your significant accomplishment of graduating from PLNU. I hope this graduation celebration will be a memorable one that bridges distance and reminds us of the close relationships that have been forged through our Point Loma experiences. Whether you are in the Greek or sharing virtually, you have achieved a great goal, demonstrated your persistence, and overcome many challenges to earn your degree!
In addition to my personal congratulations, I also want to offer the congratulations on behalf of the entire PLNU community upon your graduation. This accomplishment is significant, and your commitment to pursue and earn your degree provides you with new opportunities as it changes the trajectory of your tomorrows. This accomplishment, the completion of your degree, is also a credit to many others who have provided support and have contributed to your learning experiences. This journey has been filled with family, friends, faculty, staff, and other supporters along the way. I hope you will take some time to say “Thanks,” and acknowledge them for the ways they have shaped, developed, and encouraged you. Enjoy this time and congratulations on your graduation. I’m proud of you and all that earning a degree from PLNU means for you.
